Sara B Piotrowski

Sara B. (Scherden) Delozier Piotrowski was born on February 16, 1923 in Altoona, Pa. to James and Agnes (Rhodes) Scherden. Sara passed away with her family by her side on June 8, 2023. She was a member of a multi-generational railroad, farming and coal mining family and was one of 10 siblings of whom now only her 91-year-old brother Daniel (Veronica) Scherden survives. Sara was a "Gold Star Mother", losing her son, John when he was only 19 years old while serving in the Marine Corp in Vietnam. Sara worked as a civil service employee for 45 years from which she retired. For a time, Sara lived in Germany when her husband Casimer Piotrowski (divorced and deceased) was on active duty in the military. Her last occupation in accounting was at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Sara was a member of various military and fraternal organizations. Keeping her mind and body active and healthy, Sara enjoyed square dancing and playing various mind-challenging card games. She had a good attitude on life and enjoyed her family, extended family and many friends. Sara celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by friends and family who traveled and attended from near and far.

Sara is survived by her daughter Theresa Piotrowski Bankert (Timothy), two grandsons Brandon (Jennifer) and Stefan (fiancée Brittany) Bankert and three great-grandchildren Harleen, Lexi and Jaxon. Also, many nieces and nephews. Sara is preceded in death by her infant daughter Julia Delozier and son John Delozier.

Visitation June 15, 2023 at 10 am, Rosary at 10:30 am, Mass at 11am at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Tucson, Az. Interment to follow at South Lawn Cemetery, Tucson, Az.
