Renee Council

For family and friends, the loss of Renee (Wiese) Council is and continues to be immeasurable. Renee T. (Wiese) Council, age 67, Tucson, Ariz., passed away Sat., June 1, 2024. She died unexpectedly after confronting what turned out to be an aggressive, advanced stage of cancer. For those who know Renee, she is a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a health care professional and an outdoor enthusiast. As a mother she and her husband, Jim Council, (deceased) adopted two grandchildren, Jasmine and Ajalee, and have provided loving care, guidance, tireless support and encouragement to these two now young ladies. Like her own mother, Renee has been teacher, friend and confidant for her girls, sharing her strong expectations, work ethic and hard-earned wisdom with these girls. As a sister to her six siblings, and a relative to many, Renee has generously opened her home to family for fun, relaxation and also during times of need. From Minnesota to Arizona, Renee has built a strong circle of friends that, in effect, have become what some say is her chosen second family through their life-long shared interests and well-maintained connections. As a professional, initially as a recreation director, then as an assistant deputy warden, then occupational therapist, Renee has challenged herself to use her intellect, energy and enthusiasm to serve others. She earned three undergraduate degrees and numerous health-related certifications. In life, she found joy and happiness in hiking and camping; she was both a music maker and music lover. At play, Renee was very mindful about how to pack in the most pleasure and fun on a vacation or weekend outing. She would readily bring others along on the journey with her enthusiasm and love to entertain guests. Renee is survived by her daughters, Jasmine and Ajalee Council. She is remembered by her family: sisters Yvonne, Susan (and Bob), Shirley (and Gordy), sister-in-law Nadine and brothers Mark, Chad and Brian (deceased); niece and nephews Shanna, Tyler and Nick, Kyle and Chad. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to those who provided loving care, support and encouragement during Renee's battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Tucson Parks and Recreation Department in honor of Renee. https://www.tucsonaz.gov/Departments/Parks-and-Recreation/Donations-and-Memorials/Memorials-and-Donations
