Kathleen Marie Busse

Kathleen Marie (Odden) Busse passed away on May 17, 2024. Her final days were spent surrounded by family sharing love, support and memories of our time with her. Kathy was born in Madison, Wisconsin, on October 29, 1955. She graduated from Queen of Apostles High School in Madison in 1974. In May 1975, she was married to Fredrick (Rick) R. Busse. Together they had two daughters and lived in Minnesota, Germany, California, and Arizona as an Air Force family. Kathy was briefly in the Air Force before the birth of her children. When her children were older, she worked in food service and as a kitchen manager in several Tucson area nursing homes. Kathy returned to Tucson after the birth of her first grandson where she was a very loving and active grandmother to both her grandsons. Kathy was hard working, caring, and helpful in any way she could be. She didn't let setbacks keep her down and approached life with determination and an impish sense of humor. She is no longer physically with us, but the memories and love she left behind will keep her with us in our hearts. Thank you to all the family and friends who came to be with her and who sent support from all over the country when she rather suddenly went into hospice. Thank you also to the amazing staff at Tucson Medical Center and Peppi's House hospice for taking such good care of her so her family could focus on being together and supporting Kathy and each other.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Arnold and Jean Odden, her husband, Rick Busse, and her father-in-law, Frederick (Fritz) Busse . She is survived by her daughters, Amy and Melanie Busse, her grandsons, Rigel and Altair Peterson, her son in law, Greg Peterson, her 6 siblings (Deborah Dougless, Steve Odden, Sandra Clark, Mike Odden, Janet Johnson, and Margie Olsen), her mother-in-law Lucille Busse, and her sisters-in-law (Chris Busse and Teresa Wright).

There will be a celebration of life at the Sugar River Pizza Company (1390 Cabela Drive, Sun Prairie, WI) on Sunday, June 30, from 11:30AM -2 PM.
