Gordon Robert Stevens passed away on Friday December 27th, 2024, at the age of eighty-nine in Tucson, Arizona, his home of over five decades. As a young man growing up in Rutland, Vermont, Gordon was a baseball pitcher who had dreams of playing for the Boston Red Sox. He joined the United States Air Force in 1953 and proudly served his country for 21 years, specializing in military cryptography and serving a tour in Vietnam.
Gordon met his wife Alice after an introduction from her brother, an Air Force friend. They married in 1955 and had three children. After he retired from the Air Force, he settled in Tucson and worked as a student advisor and financial administrator at Palo Verde High School and Tucson High School. Alice passed away in 2000 from complications of breast cancer. Gordon was lucky enough to find true love a second time and married Delma “Jean” in 2001. They remained a devoted couple until his passing. Gordon was a lover of Scottish Terriers, Dunkin Donuts and finding a good bargain. He was always happiest watching a Red Sox game, U of A basketball or playing golf with friends.
Gordon was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice, his son Paul, his daughter Lori, and his stepson Daniel. He is survived by his wife Delma Jean, son Michael Gordon (Lisa), his stepdaughters Dianna and Shirley (Gregory), seven grandchildren: Michelle (Dave), Robert, James, LeAnne, Danielle (Michael) Hollie and David and eleven great grandchildren: Isla, Suvi, Dawn, Gideon, Daniel, Elias, Henry, David II, Jacoby, Rylan and Sydni.
