Obituary For Eric Snyder

The Reverend Eric Snyder

Born March 15th, 1925 in Glendale, California, he carried the light and warmth of southern California with him throughout his life. After graduating from Occidental College, he went to New York City, where he attended Union Seminary and finished his divinity studies at General Theological Seminary in lower Manhattan. In-between, he attained an MSW from Columbia School of Social Work. A man of principle and faith, his life and career included work with First Nations communities, underserved communities throughout New York from Harlem to the Lower East Side, from working with youth and with the aged. He was involved in the peoples’ issues, from union organizing in the 40s to the civil rights movement of the 60s to school board struggles in the 70s. He worked for the Episcopal Mission Society, the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies, and was later the priest in North Parish in the Diocese of Bethlehem in Pennsylvania. He loved literature and poetry, organic gardening, good food and bone-dry martinis.

Eric died peacefully at home surrounded by family November 7, 2023 .He is survived by his children, Kristin Dennehy, Daniel Petersen-Snyder (Christine Petersen-Snyder), Mary Morgan (Edward Morgan), Eric Snyder (Alessandra Seggi) and Danny Fisher (Honey Ann Fisher), several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As he and his wife opened their hearts and home to those in need throughout their lives together, their family is, in fact, almost innumerable. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean (Swerdfeger)
and son Geoffrey.

A funeral will be held on November 18, 2023, 10 am at St. Michael and All Angel's Episcopal Church 602 North Wilmot Rd, Tucson AZ 85711

There will be a memorial service and internment of ashes in April of next year in the North Parish Diocese of Bethlehem PA. Details pending
