Diane Hernandez - Eulogy by Deacon Mark
Diane Marie Hernandez was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to Margie and Kelly Crosson. After a brief time there, the family moved to Arizona, first living in Gila Bend before settling in Scottsdale/Phoenix. Diane attended North High School and was a proud NHS Mustang. She was a twirler in the high school band on football game nights.
Diane is survived husband George, son Michael, daughters Tammy and Rachel, her precious kitty cat Chloe. Also survived by brother Morgan (Jackie), sister Rhonda (Dennis), niece Shelly, nephew Tony and great nephew Jadon; all of Phoenix.
Diane had always felt a calling to help people, so she enrolled in the nursing program at Pima Community College. Three and half years later she graduated and began her career as a Registered Nurse at St. Mary's Hospital. After a few years she moved to St. Joseph’s Hospital before moving to Tucson Medical Center to spend the last 20+ years of her nursing career as a Pre-Op surgical nurse in Orthopedics. She had answered her calling to dedicate her career to helping those in need.
Diane was a very loving wife to husband George and a loving Mother to her three children. She also had a great love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. And of course, her love extended to her Phoenix clan of family.
Love is the constant thread that ran through Diane's life. To know Diane was to love Diane. But the love contained within her heart was always an unconditional love. No matter how much love we gave Diane, the amount of love in her heart for all of us managed to dwarf the love that she received from us. Her love and compassion for friends and family were immeasurable. She spent her time on this Earth living, loving, giving and forgiving at the highest levels known to mankind. God could have never created a greater human being to serve Him and to serve those who were fortunate to have interacted with Diane during her time on this Earth. We all loved her so much, yet in our own hearts we aways knew and felt that somehow, she loved us even more. Try and try as we might, her love was all encompassing.
Diane worked hard her entire life. She knew that nothing came easy and was always willing to sacrifice her own needs for the benefit of her kids. They always came first in her life. The sacrifices she made for her children are beyond counting, they are immeasurable. Diane always found a way to smooth over those youthful crises we all encountered growing up. She always found a way to make things better and make her kids feel better. She was a Godsend to her three children! They were very lucky to have had Diane as their mother. Michael Rachel and Tammy benefited greatly from having Diane as their mother. Her hopes were for her children to learn and observe and implement Diane's lessons into their own lives and their children. Mom's shoes are big shoes to fill. Never forget the love, caring, forgiveness, compassion and selflessness that she lived by. If you stray from these principles, you will get off of your mom's path of doing the right thing. Strong words to live by.
I was very lucky to have Diane as my closest friend and partner for 30 years and as my wife for 25 years. She made me a better person by example not by lecturing me. She made me want to live to match her higher standards of humanity. I never quite made it to her level of grace, tenderness or forgiveness. But it made me strive to be that better human being that she knew I could be. I think it now shows in what great kids I have. They are kind, loving, forgiving and great parents. My five granddaughters greatly appreciated and loved Grandma. George, Jessica and the granddaughters have all benefited greatly from spending 30+ years around Diane. They all loved Diane dearly!
In closing let us all take these lessons from the beautiful human being that was Diane Hernandez. Let us all strive to be better, kinder and more loving towards each other. There are many pages we can take from Diane's book of life. Every page can teach us lessons in how to better serve each other and humanity in general. Please do not let her lessons go to waste. For there is so much love, giving, forgiving, tenderness and her joy with she lived every single day of her life. Here on Earth, we lost our Angel, but up in Heaven, the Good Lord has gained a Golden Angel! We love you so much Honey! Every single one of us has a hole in our hearts. This hole can only be lessened by continuing to live in the loving lessons and follow your path to be better people. We will love you forever!
